Nothing seemed to be able to destroy the fantastic atmosphere of the festival: people were willing to stand in kilometer-long traffic jams to get to the farm, tearing down fences for unobstructed passage and sharing food with each other by erecting field kitchens. There was a spirit of togetherness at Woodstock – togetherness with nature, the people around us and, of course, the music. Of course, there was no shortage of illegal substances, promiscuous liaisons and provocative antics of rebels snoopy and woodstock, but this did not interfere with the euphoria, and was, in fact, part of it. At the end of the hippie era, the “flower children” got their festival. A festival that no one had ever managed to repeat (even the organizers of the legendary Woodstock 1969).
